What a great blog. Thank you Jamie. When I was born my parents abandoned me because I was supposed to be a girl. When I was 10 I went to boarding school because my mums boyfriend didn't want us (my sisters and I) bitches around and I never lived with either of my parents again. When I was 15 I went overseas on my own and didn't return for 8 years. When I hear the word family I cringe, I never had a cuddle from either of my parents in all my life. If I hear the term support network, I want to cry because I have none of that. But.... I have love, a good brain and a great deal of fight in me to survive. If I choose to feel sorry for myself, it will do me no good. I refuse to let the way other people have neglected me get in my way and I have the privilege of empowering thousands of women with the work I have chosen to do. I am grateful for the hardships I have endured and I am thankful for the lack of love I have been given because it has made me defiant and super super strong. If you have the ability to turn around all those negatives and hold on to love of yourself and humanity against all odds then there is nothing you cannot achieve. Like you said Jamie .. we all have a choice 100% regardless xx
