Hello Maia,
I loved reading this essay! It's fascinating to read what reptiles go through to grow and what we as humans need to experience and get through to become more resilient. Sometimes we humans have to learn the hard way, as we get caught in negative patterns. Luckily, with mindful practice, we are able to create more positive neural pathways, or not. The choice is ours :). Ha!

Reminds me also of the poor soft shell crab, which ended up being caught and supplied to a restaurant, which sauteed it and served it up to me as a delicious lunchtime sandwich, which I savored and devoured. The cycle of life is not always fair.
